Why Dietary Carbohydrate Restriction is Beneficial for T2DM Patients?

An RCT was conducted in adults with T2DM to assess if dietary carbohydrate restriction improved glycemic control and other metabolic parameters. The participants were randomized and assigned to 6 weeks energy restriction with CRHP or CD diets.

Moderate Carbohydrate Restriction for 6 weeks Modestly Improved Glycemic Control and Metabolic Parameters in Individuals with T2DM.

T2DM: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, RCT: Randomized Clinical Trial, CRHP: Carbohydrate-reduced high-protein diet, CD: Conventional diabetes diet,
HbA1c: Glycated hemoglobin, HOMA2-IR: Whole-body insulin resistance.
